what is connectcare?

CONNECTCare is a bi-weekly food box delivery program. The boxes are filled with $50-75 worth of fresh groceries and are tailor-made for your specific needs. We purchase the food in bulk and on sale which allows for a higher quantity of food than what $50 would typically provide. We also have donations from local food organizations such as Feed NS. If you are a business or organization interested in helping contact us here.

who is it for?

CONNECTCare is for seniors, people living with disabilities, and low income families on Digby Neck and Islands.

what exactly goes in a box?

A typical box looks something like this:

Fresh fruits and vegetables (varied due to sales and seasons): Potatoes, carrots, onions, squash, apples, bananas, etc.

Pantry items: Coffee, tea, bread, cereal, crackers, rice, soups, canned meats, canned vegetables, spaghetti, sauces, gravy, sugar, peanut butter, condiments, etc.

Cold foods: Milk, margarine, cheese, eggs, sliced meats, and so on.

Freezer foods: Fish, burger patties, sausages, bacon, ground beef, pork chops, chicken, frozen vegetables.

The boxes have flexibility to meet your personal preferences and needs.

Who is connectcare provided by?

CONNECTCare is a program that we (Live Well Church) launched in December 2019, with the help of a grant from the Province of Nova Scotia. The grant allowed us to purchase upfront costs and pay staff to launch this new initiative.

Since then, we have also received grants to purchase appliances and finish the basement in our church which is now the home base for ConnectCare.
