Searching For Love

Why is love such a big deal?

February has arrived and retailers constantly remind us that this is the month of Love! Julie and I have never really been a couple who goes all out on Valentines Day because we’ve always felt that we don’t need a day to express our love to each other. Having said that, it is very sweet to see so many people experiencing love from others during the month of love. Why is love such a big deal? If you were to search this out you would find that there are many findings that support the idea that this is the one thing we all have in common, the desire to be loved and to love.

Many will or have, including me, gone to great lengths in hopes of finding it. Have you ever considered that God gives our desires to us?  There are many bible passages that reveal exactly this, that God is drawing us to himself through our desires.

O God, you are my God; I earnestly search for you. My soul thirsts for you; my whole body longs for you in this parched and weary land where there is no water.
— Psalm 63:1-2 (NLT)

It is not wrong for us to have desires. But even more important is God’s loving desire to have relationship with us. This is where it gets difficult for us just like it has been from the beginning. God planted within us a desire to live well, but we continue to struggle in this world when we attempt to live without him.

If you’ve been “looking for love in all the wrong places”, God wants you to know that you are a BIG deal to him because he’s crazy about you and wants your desires to be complete in his love for you.

God will bring the right person into your life at the right time. Always believe that! If they are not there, God isn’t finished yet!
